Summary:
The Building Surveyor is responsible for providing a range of professional building surveying services to clients, ensuring projects are managed effectively and meet required standards. This role requires a qualified and experienced individual with a strong understanding of building pathology, construction technology, and relevant legislation.
Responsibilities:
·Conduct building surveys and inspections, producing detailed reports outlining defects, condition assessments, and recommendations for repair or maintenance.
·Prepare specifications and schedules of works for building projects, including refurbishment, repair, and new build projects.
·Administer building contracts, overseeing project progress, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with building regulations and health and safety legislation.
·Provide professional advice to clients on a range of building related matters, including planning applications, building regulations, and party wall agreements.
·Prepare and submit planning applications and building control submissions.
·Negotiate with contractors and other professionals involved in building projects.
·Manage project budgets and control costs.
·Undertake dilapidations surveys and negotiate settlements on behalf of landlords or tenants.
·Carry out measured surveys and prepare existing and proposed drawings.
·Maintain accurate records of all project related information.
·Keep up to date with changes in building regulations, legislation, and best practice.
·Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and other professionals.
Qualifications:
·RICS accredited degree in Building Surveying or equivalent qualification.
·Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or working towards it.
·Thorough understanding of building pathology, construction technology, and building regulations.
·Experience in contract administration and project management.
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
·Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
·Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
·Proficiency in relevant software, including AutoCAD, surveying software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
·Full UK driving licence.
