The role supports deaf and hearing‑impaired pupils within an inclusive mainstream setting, using BSL to facilitate learning and collaborating with teachers, SEND professionals, SLTs, and families to help pupils access education with confidence.

Qualifications

• Qualified BSL Teaching Assistant with Level 2 or Level 3 BSL.
• Experience with children or young people.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt learning and communication to meet individual needs.
• Strong spoken and written English.
• Positive, patient, proactive approach.
• Experience in Deaf Provision/SEND or specialist education desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils with hearing needs within the Deaf Provision.
• Collaborate with teachers, SEND professionals, speech and language therapists, and families to create an inclusive learning environment.
• Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and learning.
• Adapt learning resources and encourage pupil independence.
• Contribute to an inclusive classroom where every child can access education.
