TipTopJob is recruiting a British Sign Language Teaching Assistant for a large Newham secondary school in East London. You will support deaf/hearing-impaired students to access the curriculum and thrive academically. The role is full-time and based on-site within the school community.

You will collaborate with teachers and SEN staff to adapt lessons, monitor progress, and promote inclusion while maintaining a patient, empathetic approach with learners of diverse needs.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2; Level 3 preferred).
  • Experience working with children or young people in an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, empathetic and adaptable to diverse learning needs.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
  • Experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role.
  • Understanding of SEN practices in a school setting.
