Job summary

TipTopJob is recruiting a British Sign Language Teaching Assistant for an outstanding Redbridge secondary school. The post focuses on supporting deaf students to access the curriculum and thrive in an inclusive environment.

You will provide in-class BSL support, help plan differentiated activities, work with the SENCO, and assist with materials to ensure accessibility. A patient, communicative approach and safeguarding commitment are essential.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in British Sign Language (minimum Level 2, Level 3 preferred).
• Experience working with children or young people, preferably in education.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-class support to students using British Sign Language.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver differentiated learning activities.
• Support students' emotional, social, and academic development.
• Assist with preparation of teaching materials to ensure accessibility.
• Work with SENCO and support staff to implement tailored education plans.
• Promote an inclusive learning environment and positive student interactions.
