Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a British Sign Language (BSL) support worker for a Bristol specialist education setting. The role involves interpreting between BSL and English for Deaf and hard of hearing learners and staff, helping to ensure inclusive access to lessons and school activities.

The successful candidate will hold an NVQ Level 6 in BSL interpretation (or equivalent) with current RSLI/TSLI registration, GCSE English at A–C, and strong communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 6 qualification (or equivalent) in BSL interpretation
• Current RSLI or TSLI registration
• Experience interpreting between BSL and English
• GCSE English at grade A–C or equivalent
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities
• Flexibility to travel between school sites

Responsibilities

• Provide BSL to English and English to BSL interpretation for Deaf and hard of hearing learners and colleagues
• Support communication across lessons, meetings, training sessions, and everyday school activities to enable equal access to learning and school life
