Job summary

Nira Caledonia Hotel is seeking a reliable Breakfast Chef to join our kitchen team. You will prepare, cook and present premium breakfast dishes, use local Scottish produce, and ensure the morning operation starts with consistently high standards.

The role requires 30 hours across four days (Wed–Sat) with a focus on opening, prep and efficient service. You will work closely with colleagues to deliver a memorable guest experience while maintaining hygiene and cost control.

Qualifications

• Experience as Breakfast Chef or Chef de Partie in a professional kitchen.
• Strong cooking skills with high standards of food hygiene.
• Ability to work early mornings and under pressure.
• Excellent time-management and organisational skills.
• Willingness to cover holidays as needed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook high-quality breakfast dishes to Nira Caledonia Hotel standards.
• Open and prepare the kitchen for breakfast service.
• Ensure breakfast service is fully prepared and ready on time.
• Work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods.
• Monitor food levels and replenish items throughout service.
• Support and direct the morning Kitchen Porter, delegating tasks.
• Maintain cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.
• Follow HACCP procedures, stock rotation and food storage requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of allergens and dietary requirements and prevent cross-contamination.
• Minimise food waste and support stock and cost control.
• Work with kitchen and front-of-house for a smooth guest experience.
• Preparing staff lunch for up to 15 employees
• Preparing breakfast for approx up to 60 covers per day
• Replenishing breakfast buffet

Are you an experienced Breakfast Chef who takes pride in producing high-quality food and delivering an excellent guest experience?

Nira Caledonia Hotel is looking for a reliable, organised and enthusiastic Breakfast Chef to join our kitchen team. This is an important role within our morning operation, ensuring our guests start their day with a consistently excellent breakfast.

30 hours a week. 4 days a week, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday , Saturday. Flexibility needed to cover holidays.

The Role

As Breakfast Chef, you will take responsibility for preparing, cooking and presenting a range of premium breakfast dishes, including traditional cooked breakfasts, eggs, pastries and continental options.

You will work with quality ingredients, including local Scottish produce, while maintaining high standards of presentation, consistency and portion control.

As part of the role, you will:

Prepare and cook high-quality breakfast dishes to Nira Caledonia Hotel standards.

Take responsibility for opening and preparing the kitchen for breakfast service.

Ensure breakfast service is fully prepared and ready on time.

Work efficiently and calmly during busy service periods.

Monitor food levels and replenish items throughout service.

Support and direct the morning Kitchen Porter, delegating appropriate preparation tasks where required.

Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness, hygiene and food safety.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

Has previous experience working as a Breakfast Chef, Chef de Partie or in a similar kitchen role.

Has strong cooking skills and takes pride in producing consistently high-quality food.

Is confident working independently and taking responsibility for early-morning kitchen preparation.

Has excellent knowledge of food hygiene, allergens and safe food-handling practices.

Is organised, reliable and punctual.

Works well under pressure and can manage a busy breakfast service.

Has strong attention to detail and high personal standards.

Is a positive team player with good communication skills.
