Job summary

Selwood Limited in Dartford is seeking a Hire Manager to lead the branch Hire operation. You will coordinate with branch teams to ensure the smooth completion of all customer hire requests and product requirements, and to maximise profitability by pricing and securing assets at the best rates.

The role requires supervising the Hire Team, liaising with operational colleagues, ensuring accurate contract documentation, handling charges for damages, and pursuing opportunities with dormant accounts

Qualifications

• Experience in a supervisory or management role within a hire/rental business.
• Experience running a busy hire desk in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in logistics, construction or water utilities is beneficial.
• Experience with different software packages and rental systems.
• Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams).
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Strong planning and organising skills with ability to re-prioritise.
• Ability to multi-task and handle multiple queries from stakeholders.
• Professional communication under pressure.
• Strong negotiation/influencing skills.

Responsibilities

• Logistics scheduling branch transport.
• Ensuring contract documentation and paperwork are accurate and available.
• Lead the Hire Team and ensure readiness of equipment and resources.
• Liaise with operational teams to ensure smooth running of customer requirements.
• Ensure correct charges for damages and losses are raised and agreed with customers.
• Communicate all sales leads to the Sales Team promptly.
• Make telephone sales calls to customers with dormant accounts.
• Provide feedback to team and sales with proactive development ideas.
