Job summary

JDP’s Fareham branch seeks a Branch Assistant to support daily operations, assist trade customers, handle orders and quotations, and aid stock control. You will help with loading/unloading, deliveries, and maintain accurate records, working with sales, warehouse and operations teams.

The role is on-site at Fareham, with responsibilities that include customer service, product knowledge, and occasional deliveries.

Qualifications

• Customer service and communication with trade/commercial customers in a professional and helpful manner.
• Basic IT and administrative skills, such as using order processing systems, email, and Microsoft Office.
• Organisational and time-management skills to prioritise tasks and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced branch.
• Teamwork and collaboration to support colleagues across sales, warehouse, and operations.
• Numeracy and attention to detail for quotations, pricing, stock counts, and delivery documents.
• Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely per health and safety guidelines.
• Experience in merchant/trade counter/warehouse/construction civils is beneficial but not essential.
• Willingness to learn about drainage and civils product ranges and develop technical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers at the trade counter and answer enquiries.
• Process orders and prepare quotations, manage stock levels.
• Support goods-in/goods-out activities including loading and unloading deliveries.
• Maintain a clean, safe branch environment and accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with colleagues across sales, warehouse and operations.
• Occasional local deliveries, inventory counts, and promotional activities.
