Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology team in Birmingham. The post is based at the Cellular Pathology Department and requires working across sites, with a 37.5 hour week and weekend rotation.

The ideal candidate will hold a BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent and HCPC registration, with active CPD and the ambition to progress through the IBMS Generic portfolio.

Qualifications

• BSc (Hons) Biomedical Science or equivalent academic achievement ratified by IBMS.
• State registration with Health Professions Council (HPC).
• Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) per HPC guidelines.
• Desirable: Working towards post-registration specialist competency portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Work across the full range of Histology Department services: dissection/loading, embedding, microtomy, special stains and IHC.
• Rotate through the Andrology service; follow SOPs and support quality management.
• Maintain records, assets and analysers, and help resolve corrective actions.
