East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to join the Cellular Pathology Department across Conquest Hospital Hastings and satellite site Eastbourne. The role involves routine histology/cytology prep, embedding and microtomy, quality control and ISO 15189 compliance, with supervision by Senior/Lead staff.

You should be HCPC registered or near completion of a Biomedical Science degree, with patient-focused approach and good communication, organisation and manual

Qualifications

HCPC registered or in final year of Biomedical Science degree with registration portfolio.
Experience in routine Cellular Pathology laboratory.
Professional, proactive, and patient-focused with good communication and manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

Perform embedding and microtomy, plus quality control steps per ISO 15189.
Rotate through department roles and provide scientific services to aid diagnosis.
Assist in workflow management, documentation, and training junior staff.
Support CPD activities and maintain high standards within the team.
