Job summary

EMBL-EBI seeks a Bioinformatics Software Engineer & Scientific Lead to combine hands-on software development with scientific leadership. You will help shape the strategy and long-term sustainability of Job Dispatcher and other software products.

The role requires collaboration with scientists, engineers and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, scalable services that meet global research needs. It is a hybrid role with on-site days and a strong emphasis on leadership.

Qualifications

• A degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Professional experience in bioinformatics, scientific computing or software engineering with production software and RESTful APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead software development for production bioinformatics services and scientific software.
• Shape product strategy with project lead and Head of Services and Operations.
• Provide specialist bioinformatics expertise to keep services scientifically relevant.
