Job summary

EMBL-EBI in Cambridge seeks a Technical Product Owner to shape strategy and lead the development of core bioinformatics software such as Job Dispatcher. You will work with scientists, engineers and infrastructure specialists to prioritise work, guide biological direction and ensure reliable services across the global community.

You will lead production software teams, define roadmaps and contribute to the evolution of services, while promoting knowledge sharing through training and publications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science or related field.
• Extensive bioinformatics software engineering experience for scientific applications.
• Strong programming in Java, TypeScript/JavaScript and Python with REST APIs.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and sustain production bioinformatics services.
• Define product roadmaps and technology direction with team leaders.
• Provide bioinformatics expertise to keep services scientifically relevant.
• Prioritise backlog, coordinate projects and manage risks.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers and operations for reliability.
