EMBL-EBI's Europe PMC team seeks a Software Development Project Lead to provide technical leadership for one of the world's largest biomedical literature resources. You will guide backend and database engineers, collaborate with product, ML and data science teams, and shape the platform's next generation of literature discovery and AI-powered services.

Qualifications

• Experience leading software engineering delivery in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience designing and operating large-scale, high-availability systems with substantial data volumes.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical development and long-term architecture of Europe PMC and associated services.
• Define roadmaps to scale platform data, AI capabilities and user demand.
• Mentor and develop a team of software engineers and collaborate with product, data science and ML teams.
• Oversee data ingestion and processing pipelines across international content providers.
• Ensure reliability, performance and availability of production services.
