Job summary

Ampa is seeking a Billing Team Leader to manage the end-to-end billing lifecycle across our group. The role combines people leadership with hands-on operational delivery, driving standardised, accurate billing aligned with client requirements and group policies.

You will lead a team across multiple brands, collaborate with finance, commercial and client stakeholders, and contribute to the ongoing development of a centralised billing function in a flexible, hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Substantial billing or revenue-cycle experience in a legal or professional services environment.
• Experience supervising or leading a team in a high-volume, deadline-driven operation.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end billing, WIP management and controls.
• Experience with eBilling platforms and client portals.
• UK VAT knowledge and, where relevant, the SRA Accounts Rules and cross-border billing.
• Ability to build relationships with partners and stakeholders.
• Experience driving process improvements and system changes.
• Strong analytical and organisational skills with tight deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop billing team members to create a collaborative, service-led culture.
• Plan workloads, monitor capacity and ensure cover for peaks and BAU.
• Ensure accurate end-to-end billing from pre-bill to posting and filing.
• Coordinate various billing requirements including multi-payer and eBilling.
• Maintain compliance with VAT, SARs and client terms.
• Work with credit control to embed PO requirements in billing.
• Develop the central billing function and standard operating procedures.
• Build trusted relationships with partners and stakeholders.
• Monitor billing performance and drive continuous improvement.
