Job summary

Brent Council is recruiting a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner to join the Best Start Family Hub network. You will work with families, practitioners and partner agencies to ensure children with emerging SEND receive timely support.

The role focuses on inclusion, early identification and delivering evidence-based programmes, with some evening/weekend work in support of Family Hub activities.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education or a related field (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of SEND in the Early Years and experience working within an Early Years setting.
• Knowledge of SEND legislation, inclusion practices and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
• Knowledge of child development and the EYFS.
• Understanding of multi-disciplinary and partnership working.
• Experience as an Early Years SENCO and/or supporting children with SEND.
• Experience of working collaboratively with a range of agencies and professionals.
• Experience of developing positive partnerships with parents and carers from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience of providing advice, support and professional challenge in a strengths-based way.
• Strong organisational, planning and prioritisation skills, good ICT skills and record-keeping abilities.

Responsibilities

• Identify children with emerging SEND needs and support timely access to appropriate interventions and services.
• Deliver evidence-based universal and targeted support programmes for children and families.
• Promote inclusive practice across Family Hubs, early years settings and partner organisations.
• Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to practitioners and parents.
• Contribute to multi-agency planning and coordinated support through Brent's Experts at Hand MDT clusters.
• Support implementation of the graduated approach: Assess, Plan, Do, Review.
• Facilitate positive transitions for SEND children into early years settings and school.
• Deliver training and parenting programmes that improve outcomes for children with SEND.
• Champion the voice of the child and ensure practice reflects the SEND Code of Practice.
• Promote early intervention and raise awareness of the Family Hub and SEND support offer.
