Job summary

Brent Council is recruiting a Best Start Inclusion Practitioner to join our Best Start Family Hubs. You will work in a locality MDT, identify SEND needs, deliver universal and targeted programmes, and promote inclusive practice across nurseries and partner organisations.

The role requires Level 3 Early Years qualifications, SENCO experience, and a collaborative approach with families and agencies. The post is fixed-term with some evening/weekend work and Brent offers extensive staff benefits.

Qualifications

  • A Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education (or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of SEND in the Early Years and experience in an Early Years setting.
  • Experience as an Early Years SENCO and collaborating with multiple agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify children with emerging SEND needs and enable timely access to interventions and services.
  • Deliver universal and targeted support programmes for children and families.
  • Promote inclusive practice across Family Hubs, early years settings and partners.
  • Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to practitioners and parents.
  • Contribute to multi-agency planning and coordinated support through MDT clusters.
  • Support implementation of the graduated approach: Assess, Plan, Do, Review.
  • Facilitate positive transitions for SEND children into early years settings and school.
  • Deliver training and parenting programmes to improve outcomes for children with SEND.
  • Champion the voice of the child and ensure practice reflects the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Promote early intervention and raise awareness of the Family Hub and SEND offer.
