Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a proactive Science Technician to join our Berkshire team. You will prepare materials, support teachers and students in hands-on lessons, and ensure safe, compliant practice across the laboratory.

Responsibilities include setting up demonstrations, maintaining equipment, managing stock, and providing technical assistance during experiments. Full-time/permanent with term-time options; competitive salary and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Qualification in a science discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Physics) or related field.
• Experience in a laboratory or school science department preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of COSHH and lab safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Prepare materials: set up apparatus, equipment, and chemical solutions safely for demonstrations and practical classes.
• Ensure safety and compliance with health and safety guidelines, COSHH, risk assessments, and hazardous waste disposal.
• Clean, maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Monitor inventory levels, manage stock rooms, order reagents and lab consumables, and perform routine audits.
• Provide hands-on technical support to teachers and students during experiments and demonstrations.
