Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a motivated and well-organised Science Technician to join a Berkshire secondary school's Science Department. You will support Biology, Chemistry and Physics teaching, preparing equipment and materials for practical lessons.

Responsibilities include setting up experiments, maintaining stock, assisting with practical sessions, and ensuring labs are safe and compliant with health and safety guidelines. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Background in science (academic or practical).
• Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
• Good attention to detail and strong health & safety awareness.

• Training will be provided; prior Science Technician experience is desirable.

Job description

We are seeking a motivated and well-organised Science Technician to join the Science Department of a successful and oversubscribed secondary school in Berkshire.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for science and strong practical skills to support teaching and learning across Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

The Role

Working closely with teaching staff and the Senior Science Technician, you will be responsible for:

Preparing equipment, materials and chemicals for practical science lessons

Setting up and clearing away experiments in accordance with health and safety guidelines

Maintaining, organising and ordering stock and equipment

Supporting practical lessons where required

Ensuring laboratories are safe, clean and compliant with current regulations

Assisting with risk assessments and safe storage of chemicals

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has a background in science (academic or practical)

Is organised, reliable and able to work independently

Has good attention to detail and strong health & safety awareness

Can work effectively as part of a team in a busy school environment

Previous experience as a Science Technician is desirable, but not essential as training will be provided
