Job summary

TeacherActive is recruiting a Behaviour Support Assistant for a secondary school in Mansfield. The role involves supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, including 1:1 support, to keep them engaged in learning and in line with the school’s inclusive approach.

The successful candidate will work within a supportive team and contribute to maintaining positive learning environments with clear boundaries.

Qualifications

• Experience working with secondary-aged pupils or young people.
• Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour.
• Experience providing 1:1 support.
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
• A positive and inclusive approach to supporting young people.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships.

Responsibilities

The school is looking to take on a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant on a long-term supply basis from September, supporting secondary-aged pupils including providing 1:1 support where required. The successful Behaviour Mentor will help pupils displaying challenging behaviour to remain engaged in learning, promote positive behaviour and support the school’s inclusive approach.

The successful Behaviour Support Assistant will have:

• Experience working with secondary-aged children or young people
• Experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour
• Experience providing 1:1 support
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A positive and inclusive approach to supporting young people
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships
