Job summary

Budmouth Academy Weymouth invites applications for a Behaviour Support Officer to join its pastoral team. You will help encourage positive attitudes to learning and manage student behaviour across the academy.

The role involves liaising with staff on behaviour, attendance and progress, supervising breaks, coordinating detentions and supporting students emotionally and socially. 40 hours/week, 8am-4:30pm, term-time plus INSET days, salary £26,475.

Responsibilities

• Respond to on-call issues to support students back to class or remove from lessons.
• Support students' emotional and social needs by encouraging positive behaviour per policy; maintain high expectations.
• Assist with pastoral care, help students who are unwell, distressed or injured.
• Supervise students at social times.
• Coordinate and manage detentions for students in the reset room or with antisocial behaviour.
• Liaise with parents when students miss expectations of the Subject Removal Room.
• Handle behaviour, attendance and pastoral issues; communicate actions to students, staff and parents.
• Maintain a strong presence and help students regulate emotions/behaviour in class.
