Job summary

The Portsmouth Academy invites applications for a Behaviour and Pastoral Officer to join our Patrol Team. You will promote positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour across the school, maintaining a visible presence to foster a calm, respectful environment where students can thrive.

You will support students with behaviours that don’t meet expectations, build strong relationships, deliver targeted interventions, and mentor underachieving pupils.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in an educational or care setting.
• Experience with challenging behaviour and de-escalation techniques.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
• Strong interpersonal skills to engage students, staff, parents and external agencies.
• An empathetic, calm and non-judgemental approach for high-pressure situations.
• Proficiency using ICT systems, including Microsoft Office 365.
• Commitment to modelling school values and contributing to academy life.

Responsibilities

• Promote positive values, attitudes and good student behaviour across the school.
• Provide targeted intervention strategies to remove barriers to learning.
• Support students experiencing difficulties at school or at home, ensuring they receive help.
• Mentor students underachieving relative to targets and contribute to safeguarding and wellbeing.
