Job summary

The Portsmouth Academy is seeking a dedicated Behaviour and Pastoral Officer to promote positive student behaviour and wellbeing, with a visible presence across the site. You will support safeguarding, mentor underachieving students, and provide targeted interventions to remove learning barriers.

Experience with children in educational settings and strong interpersonal skills are essential. A calm, empathetic approach and proficiency with ICT and Office 365 are required to effectively engage

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in educational or care settings.
• Proven ability to de-escalate challenging behaviour.
• Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with staff, students and parents.

Responsibilities

• Promote positive values, attitudes and student behaviour across the school.
• Provide targeted interventions to remove barriers to learning.
• Mentor students underachieving relative to targets.
• Support safeguarding and student wellbeing across the academy.
