Behaviour & Pastoral Support Assistant

Location: South Shields
Contract: Full-time, Term-time
Start Date: Immediate
Pay: Competitive daily rate

This role blends behaviour support with pastoral care. You’ll help pupils manage emotions, build coping strategies and feel supported throughout the school day.

Ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring, listening and helping young people reset and refocus.

Your day will involve

  • Supporting pupils with emotional and behavioural needs
  • Providing pastoral check‑ins and one-to-one support
  • Helping pupils manage conflict and frustration
  • Encouraging positive choices and self‑regulation
  • Supporting classroom engagement when pupils are ready

  • Experience in behaviour support, youth work or pastoral roles
  • A nurturing but consistent approach
  • Good boundaries and emotional intelligence
  • A team player who communicates well

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
