Job summary

The Portsmouth Academy in Portsmouth is seeking a committed Behaviour and Pastoral Manager to lead our behaviour and pastoral provision, supporting high standards of conduct, wellbeing and readiness to learn. You will oversee the Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, coordinating day-to-day activity to ensure a calm, safe and inclusive environment where every student can thrive.

Working with senior leaders, SEND and safeguarding colleagues, you will identify barriers

Qualifications

• Educated to level 3 or equivalent professional qualification in education, pastoral support, behaviour, youth work, safeguarding or a relevant field.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing a team, with the ability to set clear expectations and maintain high standards.
• Experience of supporting children and young people with behavioural, emotional, social and educational needs.
• The ability to apply behaviour policies consistently and coordinate effective pastoral support and interventions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work sensitively with families and other professionals.

Responsibilities

• Oversee behaviour systems, sanctions and restorative approaches, supporting students to return to learning.
• Lead, manage and develop Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants.
• Embed the Behaviour and Culture Policy and the expectations of the TP A Way across the school.
• Identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support, particularly for disadvantaged students, those with SEND and vulnerable learners.
