Job summary

The Portsmouth Academy in Sunderland is seeking a committed Behaviour and Pastoral Manager to lead our behaviour and pastoral provision and support a calm, safe environment where students can thrive.

You will manage Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, embed the Behaviour and Culture Policy, and work closely with SEND, safeguarding and teaching staff to identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support for disadvantaged and vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

• Educated to Level 3 or equivalent in education, pastoral support, behaviour or safeguarding.
• Experience leading and developing a team to maintain high standards.
• Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, social and educational needs.
• Ability to apply behaviour policies and coordinate pastoral support.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with families and professionals.
• Safeguarding knowledge and confidential information handling.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants.
• Coordinate day-to-day work and ensure a student-centred approach across the school.
• Embed the Behaviour and Culture Policy and the TPA Way.
• Identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support for disadvantaged and SEND learners.
• Oversee behaviour systems, sanctions and restorative approaches.
