Job summary

The Portsmouth Academy is seeking a committed Behaviour and Pastoral Manager tolead operational leadership of behaviour and pastoral provision at our Portsmouth campus. You will support high standards, wellbeing and readiness to learn, while guiding Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Support staff.

Qualifications

• Educated to level 3 or equivalent professional qualification in education, pastoral support, behaviour, youth work, safeguarding or a relevant field.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing a team with clear expectations and high standards.
• Experience of supporting children and young people with behavioural, emotional, social and educational needs.
• Ability to apply behaviour policies consistently and coordinate effective pastoral support and interventions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with families and professionals.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, including handling confidential information.
• Ability to interpret behaviour and pastoral data, maintain accurate records and use findings to improve outcomes for students.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, coordinating day-to-day work.
• Embed the Behaviour and Culture Policy and the expectations of the TPA Way to create a calm, safe environment.
• Identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support for disadvantaged, SEND and vulnerable learners.
• Oversee behaviour systems, sanctions and restorative approaches and support students back to learning.
• Collaborate with senior leaders, SEND and safeguarding colleagues to provide effective pastoral interventions.
