The Portsmouth Academy is seeking a committed and proactive Behaviour and Pastoral Manager to provide operational leadership of behaviour and pastoral provision, supporting high standards of behaviour, engagement, wellbeing and readiness to learn.

You will lead Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, coordinating their day-to-day work and embedding the school's policies to create a calm, safe environment where students can thrive.

Qualifications

• Educated to level 3 or equivalent professional qualification in education, pastoral support, behaviour, youth work, safeguarding or a relevant field.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing a team, with the ability to set clear expectations and maintain high standards.
• Experience of supporting children and young people with behavioural, emotional, social and educational needs.
• The ability to apply behaviour policies consistently and coordinate effective pastoral support and interventions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work sensitively with families and other professionals.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, including the appropriate handling of confidential information.
• The ability to interpret behaviour and pastoral data, maintain accurate records and use findings to improve outcomes for students.

Responsabilités

• Lead, manage and develop Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, coordinating their day-to-day work.
• Coordinate day-to-day work and ensure a consistent, student-centred approach across the school.
• Embed our Behaviour and Culture Policy and the expectations of the TPA Way, contributing to a calm, safe and respectful environment where students can thrive.
• Oversee behaviour systems, sanctions and restorative approaches, supporting students to return successfully to learning.
• Identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support, particularly for disadvantaged students, those with SEND and vulnerable learners.
• Work closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, SEND and safeguarding colleagues to ensure effective support.
