The Portsmouth Academy in Sunderland is seeking a committed Behaviour and Pastoral Manager to lead our behaviour and pastoral provision and support a calm, safe environment where students can thrive.

You will manage Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, embed the Behaviour and Culture Policy, and work closely with SEND, safeguarding and teaching staff to identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support for disadvantaged and vulnerable learners.

Qualificações

• Educated to Level 3 or equivalent in education, pastoral support, behaviour or safeguarding.
• Experience leading and developing a team to maintain high standards.
• Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, social and educational needs.
• Ability to apply behaviour policies and coordinate pastoral support.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with families and professionals.
• Safeguarding knowledge and confidential information handling.

We are seeking a committed and proactive Behaviour and Pastoral Manager to join our team at The Portsmouth Academy, providing effective operational leadership of our behaviour and pastoral provision. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to students’ lives by supporting high standards of behaviour, engagement, wellbeing and readiness to learn.

You will lead, manage and develop our Behaviour and Pastoral Officers and Pastoral Support Assistants, coordinating their day-to-day work and ensuring a consistent, student-centred approach across the school. Through visible leadership and practical support for colleagues, you will help embed our Behaviour and Culture Policy and the expectations of the TPA Way, contributing to a calm, safe and respectful environment where students can thrive.

Working closely with senior leaders, teaching staff, SEND and safeguarding colleagues, you will identify barriers to learning and coordinate targeted support, particularly for disadvantaged students, those with SEND and vulnerable learners. You will oversee behaviour systems, sanctions and restorative approaches, supporting students to return successfully to learning.

• Educated to level 3 or equivalent professional qualification in education, pastoral support, behaviour, youth work, safeguarding or a relevant field.
• Experience of leading, supporting and developing a team, with the ability to set clear expectations and maintain high standards.
• Experience of supporting children and young people with behavioural, emotional, social and educational needs.
• The ability to apply behaviour policies consistently and coordinate effective pastoral support and interventions.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, including the ability to work sensitively with families and other professionals.
• Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures, including the appropriate handling of confidential information.
• The ability to interpret behaviour and pastoral data, maintain accurate records and use findings to improve outcomes for students.
