Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support SEMH learners in a mainstream secondary school in Salford. The role involves 1:1 and small group support, promoting positive routines and emotional regulation, and contributing to progress tracking within the school day.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEMH/behavioural needs, a calm and empathetic approach, strong communication skills, and an understanding of SEMH/SEND strategies.

• Experience supporting pupils with SEMH/behavioural needs in an educational setting.
• Calm, proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
• Strong communication and relationship-building with pupils, families and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for SEMH pupils.

Salary: 100- 125 / day
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:15am-3:30pm

We are working with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Salford seeking dedicated a SEMH Mentor to support SEMh learners in the mainstream setting. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a genuine impact on pupils who need encouragement, stability, and guidance to thrive in their learning and development.

SEMH Mentor Role and Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
• Provide support for learners working from in the reflection room
• Promote positive routines, emotional regulation, and resilience throughout the school day
• Contribute to progress tracking and communicate effectively with staff and families

SEMH Mentor - What We're Looking For:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH/behavioural needs (in school, care, or youth work)
• A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• An understanding of SEMH and SEND strategies
• A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential

SEMH Mentor - To Be Eligible You Must:

• Hold the Right to Work in the UK
• Have an enhanced child barred list DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply)
• Be able to provide two professional references (child-related preferred)
