Job summary

Value Education is recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to support students across KS3 and KS4 in various settings, with a focus on behaviour, SEMH needs and engagement in education. Start ASAP; roles cover full-time, part-time, temporary and long-term placements in Bury and surrounding areas.

You will build positive relationships, provide mentoring, and support the school's SEN team while implementing individual support plans and behaviour strategies.

Qualifications

  • Relevant qualification or experience in education, youth work, childcare, psychology, counselling or a similar field is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with behavioural and emotional needs.

  • Supporting students to manage their behaviour and emotions effectively.
  • Helping students develop positive attitudes towards education and learning.
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral staff and the school's SEN team.
  • Implementing behaviour strategies and individual support plans.
  • De-escalating challenging situations in a calm and professional manner.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Supporting students who may have SEMH, SEN or challenging behaviour.
  • Maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment.

Behaviour Mentor - Secondary Ages

Location: Bury and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-time / Part-time / Temporary / Long-term
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £110 - £120 per day, depending on experience

Value Education is currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to work within various settings, supporting students across KS3 and KS4.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people, managing challenging behaviour and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with students who may require additional support with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and engagement in education. You will build positive relationships with students and provide consistent, supportive guidance throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting students across KS3 and KS4 with behavioural and emotional needs
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group mentoring

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience working with young people in a secondary school, alternative provision, SEMH setting, youth work or similar environment.

You should have:

  • Experience supporting young people with challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A calm, patient and consistent approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to build positive relationships with students
  • Confidence working with students who may display challenging behaviour
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people's development
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team
  • A relevant qualification or experience in education, youth work, childcare, psychology, counselling or a similar field is desirable
