Cover People are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor for a full-time role in a Specialist SEMH setting. You will support students with emotional, social, and behavioural needs, building trusted relationships and promoting engagement in learning.

The role is a long-term placement with potential for permanency, with hours 8:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday. Experience with SEMH, strong classroom behaviour management, and the ability to inspire and empower young people are essential.

This is an exciting opportunity for a full-time Behaviour Mentor to join a supportive Secondary SEMH School in Wigan to start ASAP. You'll work closely with students who require additional behavioural, emotional and pastoral support, helping them engage with learning, build resilience and achieve positive outcomes.

The Behaviour Mentor Role:
  • Start Date: ASAP.
  • Contract: Full-time, long-term, with potential for permanency.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am 3:30 pm.
  • Pay: £100 120 per day (DOE), paid PAYE directly through Cover People no umbrella companies!
  • Setting: Secondary Alternative Provision for children with social, emotional or mental health needs.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Provide one-to-one and small group behaviour mentoring for students with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships that promote engagement and emotional wellbeing.
  • Support students to regulate their emotions and develop positive coping strategies.
  • Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to manage behaviour positively and consistently.
  • Encourage resilience, independence and confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Act as a positive role model, helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their potential.

What We're Looking For:
  • A CV detailing your full education and work history.
  • Proof of Right to Work & Address in the UK.
  • A valid DBS certificate on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Two professional references.
  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or additional needs is highly desirable.
  • A calm, resilient and patient approach with excellent behaviour management skills.
  • The ability to build positive relationships and inspire young people to achieve their potential.
