Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming junior school in Rugby. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with challenging behaviour, SEMH and additional needs, helping them engage positively in school life and reach their full potential.

Working with the SENCO and pastoral team, you will implement behaviour plans, monitor progress and contribute to pupil reviews.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Experience with SEMH or ASD
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

Long Term Futures is recruiting a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming and inclusive junior school in Rugby. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity supporting pupils with challenging behaviour, SEMH and additional needs, helping them engage positively in school life and achieve their full potential.

Working alongside the SENCO, class teachers and pastoral team, you will provide tailored support to pupils who require consistent guidance with emotional regulation, behaviour and classroom engagement. This role is ideal for someone who is resilient, proactive and passionate about making a lasting difference to children's lives.

The school has a strong reputation for inclusion, places children's wellbeing at the heart of everything it does and offers a wide range of pastoral support, including Thrive practitioners, Forest School, family support and dedicated SEND provision.

The Role
  • Provide 1:1 and small group behaviour support for pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Support children with SEMH, ASD and additional learning needs
  • Use positive behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies
  • Build trusting relationships to improve confidence, engagement and attendance
  • Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team to implement behaviour plans
  • Support pupils both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Encourage positive social interactions and independence throughout the school day
  • Record progress and contribute to pupil reviews where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate
  • Previous experience working with children displaying challenging behaviour
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEMH, ASD or other additional needs
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Confident building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Team Teach or equivalent behaviour management training is highly desirable
  • Experience within a primary school, alternative provision or specialist setting is advantageous
