Job summary

Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in Ealing. This full-time, temporary-to-permanent role supports students who require additional behavioural and pastoral help to engage, attend school regularly and progress academically.

You will work closely with pastoral, safeguarding and SEND teams to provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring across Key Stages 3 and 4, focusing on emotional regulation, resilience and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Behaviour Mentor or similar role.
  • Experience with students displaying challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
  • Understanding of restorative practice or trauma-informed approaches.
  • Experience in a secondary school environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group mentoring for students across KS3 and KS4.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism (ASC) and other barriers to learning.
  • De-escalate challenging situations using calm intervention techniques.
  • Monitor student progress, behaviour and attendance and provide feedback to school team.
  • Deliver mentoring sessions focused on emotional regulation, social skills and personal development.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School

Location: Ealing, West London

Pay: £105 - £120 per day

Contract Type: Full-time | Temporary to Permanent

Start Date: ASAP

Commutable from: Ealing Broadway, Acton, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Southall, Perivale, Brentford, Hounslow and surrounding areas.

Long Term Futures is seeking a resilient and proactive Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming secondary school in Ealing. This full-time opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about supporting young people who require additional behavioural and pastoral support to achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.

Working closely with the school's pastoral, safeguarding and SEND teams, you will support students who may display challenging behaviour, have SEMH needs or require targeted interventions to improve engagement, attendance and academic progress.

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group behaviour mentoring for students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Support pupils with SEMH needs, ADHD, Autism (ASC) and other barriers to learning.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage engagement, confidence and resilience.
  • Promote positive behaviour through restorative approaches and consistent behaviour management strategies.
  • Work closely with class teachers, Heads of Year, pastoral staff and the SEND team to implement personalised support plans.
  • De-escalate challenging situations using calm and effective intervention techniques.
  • Monitor student progress, behaviour and attendance, providing regular feedback to the wider school team.
  • Deliver mentoring sessions focused on emotional regulation, social skills and personal development.
  • Encourage students to make positive choices and develop independence.
  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Previous experience working as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker or in a similar role supporting young people.
  • Experience working with students displaying challenging behaviour or SEMH needs.
  • Understanding of restorative practice, trauma-informed approaches or behaviour support strategies is desirable.
  • Experience working within a secondary school or with secondary-aged students is preferred.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach when working with vulnerable young people.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for students.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
