Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Mentor to support students across Milton Keynes in secondary schools and alternatives provisions. You will work one-to-one and in small groups to help pupils manage behaviour, emotions and engagement within a safe learning environment.

Ideal candidates have experience with young people and strong communication and behaviour management skills; SEMH experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in educational, youth work, coaching, care or mentoring settings.
  • Strong behaviour management and communication skills.
  • Calm, patient and empathetic approach.
  • Ability to build rapport quickly while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Experience supporting students with SEMH needs is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Help students manage behaviour and emotions effectively.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN departments.
  • Encourage engagement in lessons and school activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies and contribute to intervention plans.
  • Act as a role model with professionalism, resilience and consistency.

Tradewind Recruitment are currently seeking dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Mentors to work within secondary schools and alternative provisions across Milton Keynes. This rewarding role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

As a Behaviour Support Mentor, you will work closely with students who require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation, attendance, and engagement within the classroom environment. You will build positive relationships, promote appropriate behaviours, and help create a safe and supportive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
  • Develop positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour and emotions effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and SEN departments.
  • Encourage engagement in lessons and school activities.
