Job summary

Pink Tile Education Ltd is recruiting a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming SEND school in Bromley. The role focuses on supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs, building positive relationships and helping pupils engage with learning.

You will work closely with teachers to provide 1:1 and small-group support, manage emotions, identify triggers and develop coping strategies, and help pupils develop confidence and independence in a busy school day.

• Experience or interest in SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs is desirable.
• Reliable, a strong communicator and able to build trusting relationships.

Responsibilities

• Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.

Location: Bromley, South London

Salary: £100–£120 per day

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday

We are currently looking for a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a welcoming SEND school in Bromley.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs and who can build positive relationships with pupils who may require additional support to engage with education.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils, teachers and the wider school team to provide targeted support for children and young people who may experience challenges with behaviour, emotional regulation, social interaction and engagement with learning.

You will play an important role in helping pupils understand and manage their behaviour, develop positive relationships and build the confidence and skills they need to succeed in school.

Key responsibilities include:

• Building positive, trusting and consistent relationships with pupils

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with behavioural and SEMH needs

• Supporting pupils to regulate their emotions and manage challenging situations

• Helping pupils identify triggers and develop positive coping strategies

• Encouraging positive behaviour and reinforcing appropriate choices

• Supporting pupils to engage positively with their learning

• Helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and independence

• Supporting pupils during lessons, break times and lunchtimes where required

• Responding calmly and consistently to challenging behaviour

• Working alongside teachers and school staff to implement individual behaviour and support strategies

• Monitoring pupil engagement, behaviour and progress

• Supporting pupils to develop their communication and social skills

• Encouraging pupils to reflect on their behaviour and understand the impact of their choices

• Contributing to a safe, positive and inclusive school environment

About You

We are looking for a patient, confident and resilient Behaviour Mentor who understands that positive relationships are at the heart of supporting pupils with additional needs.

The ideal candidate will be:

• Passionate about supporting children and young people

• Experienced or interested in working with SEND, SEMH and behavioural needs

• Patient, calm and emotionally resilient

• Confident managing challenging behaviour in a positive and consistent manner

• Able to build strong and trusting relationships with pupils

• A strong communicator who can adapt their approach to individual pupils

• Positive, enthusiastic and encouraging

• Able to remain calm and professional in challenging situations

• Reliable, committed and able to work effectively as part of a team

• Previous experience as a Behaviour Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Youth Worker, Support Worker or similar is desirable but not essential

Pay & Holiday Pay

The pay stated is inclusive of the additional 12.07% PAYE holiday pay.
