GM Performance Power Units is seeking a Battery Controls Engineer to join the ERS team in Concord, NC. You will develop and optimize embedded software for the HV battery management system, implementing real-time control algorithms for state of charge, state of health, and protection, while collaborating with controls and hardware teams on a high-performance Formula 1 powertrain.

The ideal candidate has advanced degrees or substantial experience in embedded software, with strong C/C++ skills,

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Embedded Systems, or related discipline; OR Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience in embedded software development.
• Expertise in battery management systems and battery control algorithms, such as protection/derating, state of charge, and state of health.
• Familiarity with cell and HV battery physics and operation; knowledge of high voltage systems and control.
• Strong proficiency in embedded C and real-time programming for HV systems.

Responsabilités

• Develop, test, and maintain embedded software in C, C++, and real-time languages for HV battery management systems.
• Implement data acquisition, hardware abstraction layers, real-time comms, and diagnostics features.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive system operation and safety.
• Conduct MiL/SiL/HiL testing and trackside validation; maintain clean unit tests and documentation.
