Job summary

Howarth Timber Group in Barwell is seeking a part-time Branch Administrator to handle clerical, administrative and sales support. You will join a friendly team, contribute to branch goals and work across stock, banking and customer-facing tasks.

The role requires strong organisation, attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines in a busy environment. Training available for Kerridge system and exposure to payroll/HR duties.

Qualifications

  • Essential: general business/administration experience
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take initiative
  • Attention to detail in a busy environment
  • Excellent communication via telephone and in person
  • PC literate with Word/Excel; confidentiality
  • 27 hours per week with alternating Saturdays (08:00–12:00)

Responsibilities

  • Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers
  • Process sales/purchases ledger tasks and invoices
  • Support Branch Managers with payroll, HR and Health & Safety compliance
  • Handle daily banking and cash reconciliation; manage petty cash
  • Assist sales team at trade counter and over the phone
  • Support stock control and logistics administration
  • Maintain filing systems (paper and electronic)

What it means to be a Howarth Timber Branch Administrator

We are looking for an outstanding Branch Administrator to work at our Barwell branch to work with a great team, providing clerical, administrative and sales support and to contribute towards the branch achieving their goals, objectives and deadlines.

Branch Administrator role responsibilities:

  • Building excellent working relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
  • Perform both manual and computerised sales and purchases ledger functions including raising orders, booking goods into stock, registering invoices and dealing with queries.
  • Supporting the Branch Managers with payroll, HR and Health & Safety requirements.
  • Deal with daily banking and cash reconciliation.
  • Managing petty cash.
  • Supporting the sales team by answering the telephone and serving customers on the trade counter.
  • Assist with stock control processes.
  • Ensuring Transport and Security administration processes are completed.
  • Maintain paper and electronic filing processes.

What are the requirements to become a part of our team?

Essential

  • General business administration experience, preferably in a similar role/industry
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Ability to work unsupervised and under own initiative
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work methodically in a busy working environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and over the telephone
  • PC Literate, use of Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Compliance with established confidentiality procedures
  • Availability to work 27 hours per week – days/working hours negotiable, but must include one in every three Saturday mornings (0800-1200).

Desirable

  • Experience of using Kerridge system (although training will be provided)
  • Full driving license and use of own vehicle
