We are looking for an experienced and motivatedBar & Event Manager at Worthy Down Barracks, Winchester. To lead and oversee daily operations across a busy joint mess environment.Based on multiple designated and affiliated sites, this role is crucial in ensuring the smooth delivery of high-quality bar and guest services, maintaining service excellence, and driving performance.

You’ll play a key role in planning and managing functions, leading a team of front-line staff, and ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs), KPIs, and contractual obligations.If you are a dynamic leader with a passion for service delivery and people management, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and coordinate all bar and function operations across sites.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of guest services and operational standards as outlined in the Site Information Pack (SIP) and operational manuals.
  • Plan, organise, and direct daily service activity across the joint mess and associated outstations.
  • Manage and support staff teams to fulfil bar and function duties effectively.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of cash handling, stock management, and supply ordering.
  • Monitor and report performance of third-party service suppliers (e.g. waste, laundry).
  • Drive a strong health and safety culture, including conducting safety walks and team briefings.
  • Oversee training, development, and performance management of staff.
  • Maintain discretion and confidentiality in managing operational and personnel information.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Proven experience in a management role within the soft FM or hospitality industry.
  • Strong people management skills, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Sound knowledge of health & safety and food safety standards.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to implement solutions effectively.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with military customs and operations.
  • Experience with Kronos and UDC Payroll systems.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent H&S qualification.
  • CIEH Level 3 Food Safety qualification or equivalent.
