Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work flexibly within a specialist school supporting pupils aged 6-16 with SEMH needs. You will assist teachers, support emotional regulation, and help create a safe, engaging learning environment.

Flexible Teaching Assistant

Flexible Working Days | 08:15 - 15:00 | Term Time Only

Are you looking for a rewarding role that fits around your existing commitments? Do you have a passion for supporting young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support?

We are seeking enthusiastic and resilient Teaching Assistants to work on a flexible basis within a specialist school supporting pupils aged 6-16 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated challenges.

This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are looking for flexible work within education. You can choose the days you are available to work, however applicants must be able to commit to full working days from 08:15 - 15:00 when accepting assignments.

The school provides a nurturing and supportive environment for pupils who may have experienced barriers to education, trauma, anxiety, behavioural difficulties, or additional learning needs. Staff play a vital role in helping pupils regulate their emotions, engage in learning, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.

The Role:
  • Supporting pupils aged 6-16 with SEMH needs and associated challenges.
  • Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons and activities.
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and acting as a consistent role model.
  • Encouraging emotional regulation, social development, and positive behaviour.
  • Supporting students on a one-to-one basis and in small groups.
  • Helping to create a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs.
  • The ability to adapt to different situations and respond positively to challenges.
  • Experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults is essential
