Caritas Diocese of Salford is the principal social action agency of the Catholic Diocese. Our mission is to put Love Into Action. We help those across Greater Manchester and Lancashire experiencing poverty, disadvantage, and discrimination to transform their lives with dignity. We provide a practical response to those in crisis, suffering hardship or who are at risk. We rebuild lives for the long-term, enabling people to live in a safe, healthy, and secure environment. We call for a better, more just world, where the voices of the poor are heard and acted upon and positively influence the systems, decisions and resources that affect those in need.
We are advertising for Bank Support & Activities Workers to work a variety of shifts across our homelessness day centres and accommodation projects in Manchester. You will provide a friendly and professional welcome to people coming in and out of our services, as well as spending time with people in the communal areas and cafe.
As a Bank Support & Activities worker you will listen to residents, provide signposting advice and help them resolve problems. During day shifts you will facilitate recreational activities aimed at enabling people to connect, be active, learn and have fun, for example cooking sessions, games or arts / crafts sessions. You will also be responsible for doing building checks, dealing with emergencies, answering telephone calls, monitoring CCTV and undertaking minor domestic tasks.
You will have excellent customer service skills, good IT and admin skills with a positive approach to team working. Experience of running activities and working with people that are homeless and may be vulnerable, or disadvantaged groups in a residential / similar setting is essential.
