Overview

We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants for the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This temporary bank role offers flexibility with opportunities in orthopaedic surgical, medical and rehabilitation wards. It is not eligible for UK Visas and Immigration sponsorship.

Responsibilities
  1. Assist patients with all activities of daily living within your level of competence.
  2. Support patients to improve mobility and promote independence.
  3. Provide physical care that may require manual handling; annual manual handling training is mandatory.
  4. Assist other team members in maintaining skin integrity and use of aids.
  5. Maintain a safe and clean environment and demonstrate knowledge of health and safety issues.
  6. Help patients select meals, monitor eating and drinking, and promote independence.
  7. Safely use wheelchairs, commodes and other equipment.
  8. Respect patients’ customs, culture, values and spiritual beliefs; uphold the Trust’s Diversity/Equal Opportunities Policy.
  9. Handle waste body fluids correctly and keep specimens as requested.
  10. Perform escort duties and chaperone patients during examinations.
  11. Maintain basic life support skills, updated at least yearly.
  12. Call for help and support staff in emergencies.
  13. Take responsibility for your own professional development and maintain training records.
  14. Attend yearly statutory training and relevant in‑house sessions.
