Biomedical Scientist in Haemoglobinopathy - Band 6

The Biomedical Science team at Pulse is currently recruiting a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist in Haemoglobinopathy to work in a busy NHS Hospital in London. We are seeking a biomedical scientist who can make a meaningful impact in supporting the laboratory’s service.

Role Responsibilities

In this Biomedical Scientist role, you will:

• Work in a specialist Red Cell lab performing Haemoglobinopathy screening.
• Operate BioRad Variant II HPLC analysers for Haemoglobinopathy screening.
• Use Sebia Capillary Flex Electrophoresis and Sebia Hydrasys for Acid/Alkali gels.

Additional duties include:

• Proficiency in microtomy, capable of cutting over 30 blocks per hour to a high standard.
• Experience in embedding and staining.
• Supporting senior biomedical scientists and guiding junior staff.

Minimum Requirements

• HCPC registration.
• Microtomy experience.
• Experience in UK NHS or private sector Haematology laboratories.
• Experience with analysers: BioRad Variant II HPLC, Sebia Capillary Electrophoresis, and Sebia Hydrasys.
