Job summary

University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking Band 2 Receptionists/Admin Clerks to join Outpatients. The posts cover reception, notes preparation and clinic bookings, with a rota across 12 departments.

You will welcome patients, manage queries and support clinic administration. The role requires GCSEs in English and Maths, strong customer service and IT skills (Word/Excel/Outlook), and the ability to multitask in a busy environment while maintaining confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • GCSE English and Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
  • Experience dealing with the public / customer service.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Experience using IT systems.
  • Experience working in a busy office / customer care environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication / customer care skills.
  • Good organisation and multitasking abilities.
  • Understanding of confidentiality and data protection.

Responsibilities

  • Receive/ greet patients and manage clinic reception duties.
  • Prepare notes and book appointments for clinics.
  • Check patient demographics and verify details.
  • Answer telephone and respond to emails; handle general admin tasks.
  • Maintain filing and other routine administration tasks.

An opportunity has arisen for band 2 Receptionists/Admin clerks to join the busy teams in Outpatients. The posts are to cover reception, prepare notes and book appointments for clinics., Working on a reception desk within 12 departments on a rota basis, arriving patients for clinics, checking demographics, preparation of clinic notes, patient facing queries, telephone queries, responding to emails, booking appointments and general admin duties e.g filing etc.,

  • Experience of working with a range of Microsoft Office packages (eg. Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience of using IT systems
  • Experience of working in a busy office / customer care environment, Good communication / customer care skills both written and verbal demonstrating sympathy and compassion
