Job summary

Hilton Cardiff is seeking a Back Of House Assistant to support smooth kitchen and facilities operations in Cardiff. You will assist with deliveries, stock control, cleanliness, and canteen setup, ensuring safety and COSHH compliance across back-of-house areas.

The role offers flexible hours and benefits within a dynamic hospitality team. You’ll collaborate with Kitchen, Housekeeping and Maintenance to uphold service standards and operational flow.

Responsibilities

• Receive and check deliveries for Kitchen and Housekeeping, store correctly and report issues.
• Read and process delivery notes and invoices.
• Support stock control and rotation, report low stock or discrepancies.
• Maintain back of house cleanliness and changing rooms to a high standard.
• Keep back of house lifts and ramp area clean and well maintained.
• Assist with daily checks and scheduled deep cleans as required.
• Set up staff canteen for lunch/dinner and keep it clean during service.
• Organise back of house store cupboards, chef stores and cellar areas.
• Follow COSHH procedures and health & safety rules on deliveries and cleaning.
• Collaborate with Kitchen, Housekeeping, Maintenance and People & Culture teams.

Back of House & Facilities Responsibilities:

• Receive and check deliveries for Kitchen and Housekeeping, ensuring items are stored correctly and any issues are reported promptly.
• Read and process delivery notes, invoices and other relevant documentation accurately
• Support basic stock control, including stock rotation, organisation of storage areas and reporting low stock or discrepancies.
• Maintain cleanliness of back of house corridors, stairwells and communal areas.
• Clean and maintain male and female changing rooms to a high standard.
• Ensure back of house lifts are kept clean, tidy and well maintained.
• Carry out daily management and cleanliness checks of the ramp area.
• Complete scheduled deep cleaning of the ramp area and other back of house areas as required.
• Support with ad hoc back of house tasks as directed by the management team.
• Set up the staff canteen for lunch and dinner service.
• Maintain the staff canteen to the highest standards of cleanliness throughout service periods.
• Maintain and organise back of house store cupboards, including chef stores, chemical stores and cellar areas.
• Keep back of house office spaces clean and tidy, including hoovering, emptying bins and general housekeeping
• Follow all health, safety, hygiene and COSHH procedures when handling deliveries, chemicals, waste and cleaning equipment.
• Report maintenance issues, hazards, spillages or cleanliness concerns promptly.
• Work collaboratively with Kitchen, Housekeeping, Maintenance and People & Culture teams to support smooth back of house operations.

You must have the right to work in the UK to be eligible for this role. Documented evidence of eligibility will be required from all candidates prior to commencing employment.
