National Trust is seeking a Senior Web Operations Engineer to support a high‑impact digital ecosystem. You will manage AWS/Azure hosted services, ensure secure and reliable operations, and contribute to automation and IaC efforts across development to production environments.

The role combines hands‑on technical delivery with stakeholder collaboration, in a location‑based role at our Swindon office with flexibility on where you are based otherwise. A strong security mindset is important.

Competenze

• Experience in IT Operations, Web Ops and DevOps, with release and deployment management and incident/change/problem handling.
• Experience delivering and administering cloud infrastructure (AWS & Azure) and integrating COTS/open source solutions.
• Knowledge of information security, GDPR, controls and threat mitigation.

Mansioni

• Deploy, manage and optimise servers, databases, services and apps across environments from dev to prod.
• Automate infrastructure with IaC, ensure resiliency and security.

Working collaboratively with all areas of the Trust, we focus on delivering the Trust’s priority information services at pace, focusing on the needs of our people and supporters. We are continuously improving and securing Trust information services and take great pride in what we do. Please note the advertised salary is inclusive of a £10,000k reviewable market supplement. Your base salary will be £50,000 and you will receive the market supplement as an allowance on top, taking the total pay to £60,000. Your contractual location will be our head office in Swindon and there will be an expectation for you to attend the office. However, there is flexibility on where you are based at other times. You will be required to work at a National Trust location for 40-60% of your working week. This will be discussed in more detail at interview. What You’ll Be Doing Behind everything our Supporters see online, from our public websites and mobile application, is the Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure delivered by the Digital Web Operations team. With a passion for automation, Infrastructure as Code (IaaC), resiliency and security at its heart, the team are responsible for deploying, managing and optimising servers, databases, services and applications across a range of environments from development to production. We understand the big picture of how our systems relate to each other, facing and overcoming a broad spectrum of challenges using a breadth of tools and approaches. Who We’re Looking For

• Experience of IT Operations, ideally both Web Operations and Dev Ops; release and deployment management, operational support (ITIL- incident, change management and problem), and monitoring of services.
• Experience in delivering, implementing, and administrating solutions utilising a variety of cloud infrastructure (AWS & Azure). Commercial off the shelf (COTS) and open source packages.
• Knowledge and experiencing of information security, GDPR, control and threat mitigation.
• Problem solving ability to debug complex distributed applications, services and databases.
• Strong track record of teamwork, collaborative working, communications and stakeholder management.
• A knowledge and interest in technology delivery and how this enables the Trust’s core purpose and strategy.
