Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for our aircraft flight systems. You will contribute to requirements definition and use MATLAB/Simulink to generate flight control laws and data manipulation algorithms.

After verification and validation with bespoke simulations, you will deploy software to target hardware and perform real-world flight tests at our nearby test facility.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance.
• Desirable: Guidance, navigation and control algorithms for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art sensing systems.
• Hands-on experience with small UAS.
• Experience with DO-178/ED-20x software standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Contribute to requirements definition and data manipulation algorithms.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct real-world flight tests.
• Present testing findings in reports and customer-facing presentations.
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and contribute to process improvements.
• Ensure quality targets and compliance with software standards.
