Job summary

Saab UK, Bedfordshire-based, is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to design, implement, verify and deploy safety-critical software for our autonomous flight systems. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to develop control laws, perform V&V with bespoke simulations, and conduct real-world flight tests at our nearby facility, contributing to SOPs and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics and their impact on flight control.
• Experience in using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance.
• Desirable: Experience in guidance, navigation and control for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.
• Knowledge of state-of-the-art sensing systems and small UAS.
• Mathworks Stateflow, Simulink Coder and Embedded Coder packages.
• Experience with embedded, real-time, safety-critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and validate safety-critical flight control software.
• Contribute to requirements definition and use MATLAB/Simulink for control laws.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct real-world flight tests.
• Prepare reports and customer-facing presentations; support SOP development.
