Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop, maintain and test safety-critical software for autonomous flight systems. You will work with MATLAB/Simulink to implement novel control laws and data processing algorithms, verify via bespoke simulations and deploy to hardware for real-world flight testing near the office, with opportunities for career growth.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree in aerospace engineering or similar.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for developing control laws.
• Hands-on design and commissioning of control systems.
• Existing SC Clearance required.
• Desirable: Guidance/navigation/control for fixed/rotary wing vehicles.
• Knowledge of sensing systems and small UAS.
• Experience with embedded and safety-critical systems.
• Proficient in C++, Java, Python; Git experience.
• Familiar with DO-178/ED-20x standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and test safety-critical flight control software.
• Contribute to requirements definition and verification.
• Deploy software to target hardware and conduct flight tests.
• Present testing findings in reports and customer presentations.
• Participate in process improvement and multi-disciplinary team activities.
