Job summary

Saab UK is seeking a Flight Control Systems Engineer to develop and test safety-critical software for aircraft flight systems, using MATLAB/Simulink to create flight control laws and data manipulation algorithms.

The role involves verification and validation, deployment to target hardware, and real-world flight testing at a nearby facility. You’ll contribute to standards and continuous improvement in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Essential degree in aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• Understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics and impact on flight control.
• Experience using MATLAB/Simulink for developing algorithms and control laws.
• Hands-on experience in designing and commissioning control systems.
• Active SC Clearance or ability to obtain clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test and maintain safety-critical software for flight systems.
• Verify/validate using bespoke simulations; deploy on target hardware.
• Conduct real-world flight testing at our test facility near the office.
• Contribute to standards, process improvement and quality targets.
• Present testing findings in reports or customer presentations.
