Job summary

Staffbase Recruitment is assisting a leading automotive components manufacturer in Leicester to recruit a Mechanical Design Engineer. You will lead the design and development of mechanical components from concept through production, ensuring manufacturability and reliability.

Requirements include at least 5 years of mechanical design experience, proficiency in SolidWorks or Inventor, and knowledge of forging, casting, CNC machining, welding and sheet metal forming.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years mechanical design experience, ideally in metal manufacturing or automotive sectors.
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD (SolidWorks or Inventor).
• Strong communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of automotive mechanical components from concept through production.
• Interpret customer specs to define design parameters meeting performance, safety and regulatory standards.
• Develop detailed specifications considering materials, performance and cost.
• Create and maintain engineering drawings, 3D models, and bill of materials.
